SINGLE ESTATE/ORIGIN

Single Origins are coffees that originate from a specific region in a country. The most important thing about single origins is traceability, the fact that you know exactly where your coffee is from. These coffees carry the exotic flavors which are specific to their region.

Coffees that are sourced entirely from the same Estate are called Single Estates. These are generally high quality coffees, sourced directly from the farms at fair trade prices. The estate characteristics like soil type, climate, altitude and processing methods directly impact the flavors of these coffees and the growers develop flavor profiles unique to their estates.

Specialty Coffee connoisseurs just love single estates / origins as it is about a deeper understanding of a coffee’s flavor and how that profile is affected by what goes on at origin. With the advent of the Third Wave, the supply chain is becoming transparent and more importance is given to the origins, processing methods, flavors and quality of the coffee.

Microlots & Nanolots

Microlots and Nanolots are rare coffees with exotic flavors sourced from a single plot of land in a farm and usually processed with experimental methods. Due to the limited yield only a few 60-kilo bags of coffee are harvested in each of these unique lots making them highly exclusive.
